    Remove windshield trim 1992 ranger

  • @larrybud
    @larrybud 10 дней назад

    What's going on with the trim piece at 8:28? I think maybe a fix to that before the weather stripping would be in order!

    What do you do when the channel is smaller at the opening then opens up wider at the bottom?

    • @PrecisionReplacementParts
      @PrecisionReplacementParts 9 дней назад

      Being smaller at the opening is the pinch factor needed to retain the glass into the channel. In selecting tape for that instance, I would measure both dimensions (top of channel, and bottom of channel) and use the middle of those 2 dimensions to pick my tape. One critical thing would be to round the edge of the top of the channel where the tape will slide against, if not rounded off the tape will be cut by a sharp edge while setting the glass into the channel.

    Is the process the same for the rear window?

    • @PrecisionReplacementParts
      @PrecisionReplacementParts 24 дня назад

      For the rear it's better to rope in the seal and glass together then work in the lockstrip. There's also a black version that doesn't take a lockstrip. Feel free to reach out if you have more questions. tech@prp.com

    I was looking to purchase a similar tool from the rubber supplier - instead of stamped flat metal, theirs is bent wire, which would run more smoothly. But I see how to use it. Maybe they come with instructions but a video is a better instruction. Thanx

    Your title says 64-68 but the 68 is different guys.

    • @PrecisionReplacementParts
      @PrecisionReplacementParts Месяц назад

      That's incorrect. the rear window weatherstrip fits 64-68. You can look at other sites like dennis carpenter, Kentucky Mustang, Scott Drake, CJ Pony parts and ebay listings. It fits the 68.

      We have VWK 3110 78 which fits the 78-86 bodies where as this video addresses VWK 3110 87 fitting 87-93. There's enough of a difference between the two to warrant getting the correct kit.

    My '72 W200 door DID NOT have the holes for the clips on the upper/rear glass run. Had to remove both of the metal fasteners to get it to fit. Wound up trimming 1/2" off the wing window side, due to there being excess material. The upper/rear run is by far the worst part of this. I had to remove the door handle bar to the latch, and remove the window from the regulator track in order to have enough room to wedge the new run into the channel. I also lubricated it with Sprayway glass cleaner...really helped to seat it.

    • @levistrnad2965
      @levistrnad2965 3 месяца назад

      hey man I'm running into the same problem as you. I got a '74 w200 and it doesn't have the clips. well I took the clips off but the channel just doesn't seem to be the right size for the track. it was a pain to install and it sits too deep in the run. after I went and installed all of it I realized it wasn't even sealing the windows! the seals were too wide to pinch the window. just curious if you had similar issues and if you had a way around it.
